We've both been reading a LOT this year, eh? I'm 5 books short of my goal of reading 40 but I'm currently reading 2 and listening to one on Spotify so I MIGHT make it.
Yeah I feel like I participate in a lot of surrogate activities. The first time I caught my own fish, cleaned it, and cooked it over an open flame, it was a feeling of satisfaction I'd never had before. So much more profound than watching hockey or buying groceries at the store and cooking then at home. I can see why people who have returned to a more simple, off-the-grid existence seem to be much less distracted and much more happy.
